Post-operative appointments focus on follow-up care and involve the following:

• Post operative patients are seen routinely throughout the patient's lifetime.
• Psychological and dietary counseling are also provided when necessary based on the patient's need and progress.
• At each monthly visit, the patient is weighed and checked for general health. Co-morbidities, if any, are discussed and monitored. The patient’s primary care physician or hospital should be notified of changes in these conditions.
• If a patient moves from the area, long-term follow-up is still critical for successful outcomes. The patient needs to make plans to return to the practice for routine visits, or enter the WeightWise on-line support group.
