The WeightWise program believes the care of an obese, and especially a morbidly obese patient, requires special precautions and the appropriate equipment. Bariatric procedures require special equipment to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff. WeightWise addresses these needs with pre-operative preparation and planning in regards to the safe means of patient transport, anesthesia and surgical techniques. In addition, we also plan for post-operative recovery provisions and measures to assure patient comfort and hygiene.
Having the correct equipment helps keep our patients comfortable. Many patients have been presented with 'normal' equipment often to face humiliation, stress and possible injury that can result when they try to use the equipment. Equipment caliber however, is not the only concern in regards to our patients. Staff training and education in the use of the specialized equipment is essential. Poorly trained staff can injure themselves, as well as the patient. These patient injuries are not always simply physical.
With quality patient care as our goal, our highly trained staff is present to address all of the needs of our patients, whether those needs are physical or emotional. You can find out more about our quality initiatives by reading about:
