WeightWise provides a surgical and medical alternative for weight management throughout the United States with an innovative and progressive multidisciplinary bariatric case management program.

WeightWise Mission Statement

Provide unsurpassed care with the highest standards and best service to overweight, obese, and morbidly obese individuals and their families.

“Through research and years of study, we discovered that the treatment of obesity in the United States is fractionated. There is not a standard of care that exists for the treatment of the obese patient,” states Gary Guidry, President of Foundation Bariatric Affiliates. “FBA’s goal is to develop a unified standard of care for obesity that includes a process network of facilities, so the obese patient is successful.”

At the core of the system is the WeightWise Bariatric Program™. Bariatric patients enter WeightWise for treatment of their obesity and obesity-related conditions. Whether someone is 10, 20, 50 or 200 pounds overweight, our program has treatment options for everyone. The WeightWise Bariatric Program, which is housed in our HealthPlex, consists of five primary departments: multidisciplinary clinic, fitness center, WeightWise MarketPlace (our nutritional store), sleep labs and classrooms.

Secondary to the WeightWise HealthPlex are the bariatric-focused hospitals. These facilities cater to the patient’s needs in an environment that is conducive to positive patient outcomes. Equipment has been sized properly for the patient population, with wider doors and larger furniture so that the morbidly obese patient feels welcomed in the environment.

All staff members are sensitivity-trained in obese patient care. “If obesity was the result of one cause, we could have an effective treatment for it. However, there are multiple causes. So whether it is a patient’s emotional needs, environmental needs, physical needs or psychological needs, our staff is prepared,” Guidry says.

The WeightWise Bariatric Program has evolved from FBA’s efforts to create a standard of care within obesity that does not exist. FBA’s mission to unify obesity treatment within a health care system shows that proven, long-term outcomes are undoubtedly underway.
